In the Marine Sustainability Ecology Lab, we focus on science-based approaches to balancing human uses of the oceans while preserving healthy marine ecosystems.  

Our expertise is on the interaction between large marine predators, particularly seabirds, sea turtles, marine mammals and sharks, and human uses of the oceans such as wind energy, marine fisheries, and cumulative impacts of human activities. We determine the effectiveness of management techniques such as marine protected areas, marine spatial planning, and dynamic ocean management using novel tools and technologies such as satellite tracking and modeling.
